I've been watching YouTube videos and have come up with a little advice: What seems natural to you---panning around with your eyes--becomes extremely JUMPY with a camera. The eye cannot take in 2 seconds on one part of the picture before jumping to something else. Anybody who wants to see details (like the parts of an engine or tractor) cannot take it in in a second or two. HOLD the camera in one place, very steady against your face, or better yet, on a tripod, and when you PAN, do it slowly. Watch good news videos for an idea of good timing and panning.
