Dave: Not only are you right, I have seen tear drop lights on later models, such as SMTA, 200 and 300. Not 100% certain they were factory but do know the owners in a couple of cases and they were indeed frugal men. I doubt if the guy with the 200 ever changed a bulb let alone a light. He is the guy that bought it new and still has the 200.
