I don't think there are any "good' or "bad" years for the Cub. Find a complete tractor in your price range. If price is a concern you might do better with an A.

Just look for straight sheet metal and no major obvious damage that you are not willing to tackle and fix.

The bolt holes in the lower axle ends where the draw bar attaches are often worn out and cracked or split from using the tractor with the bolts loose. This does not affect using the tractor for light duty but they are either difficult or expensive to repair if you want the tractor back to pristine condition.
