you won`t go wrong buying a cub for this type of project. it`s perfect my kids are the 3rd. generation using our cub. my wife learned to drive on it and so did the kids you`ll just have to decide what color, red or yellow, rowcrop or lowboy, options are many, snow/grader blade, wheel weights,60" belly mower, make sure it has hydraulics(touch control), tire chains,( just to name a few )i could keep on going ,, parts are still plentifull and affordable, good luck , and have fun ,you`ll have a blast with your son.we did and still do. i still get a kick out of the people that will stop, point or do a double take at me,or the kids when we are mowing the lower lot down by the main highway. every one is used to seeing the home owner crap from HomeDepot,Lowes or Sears so when they see this tractor happily and eagerly still doing it`s job. it`s something not seen every day. muffler sticks straight up 4cyl. power 60" mower and it`s quiet, i can mow grass at 10 pm and haven`t anyone complain some people will stop and ask me what year it is ,,when i tell them it`s a 49 they can`t believe it. go for it!!!
