While I wouldn't rule out what Wayne suggested....I do agree with the theory that if you are chocking it to keep it running,You may indeed have a carb problem. Are you getting a good flow of fuel to the carb? Check to see tank is able to vent? Sediment bowl is okay and not full of water? I would check these 'fore ya pull the carb.
