Bud, I just finished rebuilding the frontend on my 49 Super A last year and got the freeplay at the steering wheel down to less than 1 1/2". You want to check the amount of backlash between the worm on the steering shaft and the worm wheel sector. You also want to check that the steering arm coming out the bottom of the steering box is tight. They sometimes loosen up, that arm is on a tapered shaft with a woodruff key. Make sure that you dont have any excessive play in your tierod ends. I left my email address so if I can help any more please feel free. scotty
