656 Exhaust

I am taking my recently aquired 656 gas to a local farmer who runs a machine shop and knows red machines rather well (he pulls w/ a 1066 - owns 10 or 15 more). I need to replace the exhaust stack as it has rusted from the manifod (he said he has a tap for the threads). He and I both like a little throat in the sound of the exhaust -- thinking of going with a 3" chrome straight-pipe. Any pros/cons?

Also, since this tractor has not seen regular field use for 5-8 years, what checks should I have him do? Compression? Hydralic pressures/flows? T/A?

Some of you may remember that I got this fella with my acreage in the fall - so I need to find out what I really have here.
