Joe I don't think the screen has much to do with the problem you are haveing, the screen was on there to keep the orifice cleen most tractors would have had the sreen remove 30 years ago. That piston and seat is what is known as an unload valve and an unload valve if it fails, will most likly fail to unload the system. What that orifice is for is to bleed off the oil behind the piston so it can move to load or unload the system. It the orifice is pluged the piston can not move so the system stays on hi pressure. The very first 460 560's had a little ball in the orifice for what reason I don't know but the ball should have been taken out many years ago. As I said before if the oring on that piston is bad if the piston is warn bad if the seat is bad if the bore for the piston is bad if the seat is loose you have aproblem. I have not seen one of these in over 30 years but knowing how bad they could be then I would think that today that piston could almost trun around in there. The relief valve in that same housing should not cause this hi pressure. Having said that the unload valve is not the only thing that can cause hi pressure. The fast hitch valve can, the linkage from the fast hitch back to the valve must be free but not loose the little gears inside the fast hitch valve must be good, free but loose and (must be in time)If they are not in time you can work on thr rest until you are blue in the face and it will never work. They can be timed without taking everthing apart but that takes know how which I have done many times, I could not tell you how 30 years ago. And the last thing are you sure that you do not have on remote valve or both for mater turned bast the single or double position a little because this will cause hi pressure.

Today's Featured Article - A Lifetime of Farm Machinery - by Joe Michaels. I am a mechanical engineer by profession, specializing in powerplant work. I worked as a machinist and engine erector, with time spent overseas. I have always had a love for machinery, and an appreciation for farming and farm machinery. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo ... [Read Article]
