Bob, Before you do any of that..... I have five cubs, one of them has had a leaky rear main for a while, and it gets on the clutch. When the oil dries it sticks the plate to the flywheel and does exactly what you're talking about. Every month or so, I just spray some WD40 through the hole on the bottom of the bell housing which frees it up. The other thing to try is starting it in gear with your foot on the clutch, which will break it free (if thats the problem). Of course, be ready to turn the key off in case it isn't... Matt.
