All you are doing is recirculating your hydraulic oil if there is no valve in the vertical pipe that returns to the filler pipe. If there is a valve in that line, and it looks like there could be one, make shure it is OPEN or all the oil will have to go back to the filler pipe through the bypass valve which would load down your engine! Your belly pump is your resevoir! It looks like they took the drive shaft out and are using that area for the suction line. You could take the riser pipe out where the hose from the bypass valve runs, which is your pressure line, and run that hose to your valve PRESSURE IN connection on a new two way valve. OUT line would go back to the filler pipe. Make sure your filler cap does NOT have a breather hole in it or it WILL leak oil. Drill and tap this hole and put a plug in it. On the old original Christmas tree valve systems, they had a small valve in this hole that you would close when using the two way hydraulics. When using a one way cylinder, you would have to open this valve. Good luck.
