I NEED MAJOR HELP!!!!!!!!

i have a 234 IHC 3 cyl 18 hp diesel tractor.
this winter the bearings went bad in the steering box.i tore it down the other day and went to order parts.the only thing that was bad on it was the upper and lower bearings and two little sheet metal tubes that are filled with ball bearings that attach to the brass block that runs up and down on the worm gear on the steering shaft.
hears the kicker,IH doesnt sell the parts by themselves.you have to buy the kit. AND IT COSTS $600.00!!!!
i have a ad on the YT classifieds, but i am asking you folks on the IH forum if you have any ideas.
i am going to have to fix it whatever i find out. it just kinda hurts the old bank account to drop $600.00 for $15.00 worth of parts!
