Here's someone's diagram for a standard Delco system. For a one-wire system, omit the wire to the #1 terminal on the back of the alternator. Here's some more one or three wire information. http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/onewire-threewire.shtml The terminal designations you refer to as R and F ane a carryover from the very early versions of these alternators. Some had a dummy terminal block placed where the regulator should have been so they could be interfaced with the external regulators for the previous alternator series. The proper way the refer to the terminals on an internally regulated Delco is by the numbers "1" and "2", which are also present, near the terminals. Typically, connecting the #2 "voltage sensing" terminal to the alternator output stud works well enough for these applications,l but it is even better to run the #2 wire as near to the battery (+) terminal as possible, which compensates for voltage drop in the wiring.
