Jeff: I may have another possible difference. Shortly after I bought my 1066 in Sept 1975, which would make it one of the last non black stripe tractors. Later that fall the tractor broke a rocker arm. I called the dealer, only to find there had been a recall, and there was a complete new rocker arm assembly there for my tractor. A technician came right out and installed it. It included complete new shaft, rocker arms and the hold down bushings. He told me these were being replaced on all 1066 going back to 1972. Given the timing on this my guess is that all black stripe tractors had the heavier rocker arm assembly.
