Hy-Tran is an excellent lube, BUT, it was developed for gear-trains that are manufactured to closer tolerances. It will lube just fine; it will give you a lot more gear noise.
85W-140 is about the best you can get now, unless you want the straight 140 gear lube. It is not easy to find, but I have seen it advertised in 5 gallon quantities in the "green" magazines.
