It takes more power to steer when standing still so perhaps the steering is a it weak or hydraulics a little weak. The TA is ment to be shifted on the go. It enabeles you to shift down when needed for a tough spot or to slow down, then go back to regular speed when it gets easier. It should be shifted quickly and should not be used to slow the tractor as when approaching a stop sign on the road. It will not hold you back going down as hill either. I think the ta is great on my SMTA. If used properly it will last a long time,if not it will fail quickly.
