The Chevy vs Ford thing opens up one big can of worms. As far as the gas engine go the ford 5.4 has had head and head gasket problems in the past, maybe they have cleared that up now. The 6.0 chevy has been very good, mileage is decent with good power. V-10 gases, not over impressive on power they are quick reving like a small block engine a big block chevy will out pull them on a long hill, and you bet, hard on gas.Diesels, aside from ford and chevys 6.2,6.5 and 6.9 which had mixed reviews the 7.3 ford has been alright common problems, turbo, injectors, glowplugs, injector pump if the truck has been use to pull the tranny WILL crap out other than that they have decent power. Dodge take the Cummins out and throw the rest of the truck a way. Dodge still can't build a auto trans. ride is poor along with resale. the cummins is very tuff. Chevy the Duramax is really livin up to it's name very eary production trucks broke a few trans. input shafts on the allison's but that was fixed quickly, still the duramax has the most torque out of anybody, look for your self on the manufactures web sites. Ask any one who has a duramax they will say they love it. I work on a few trucks and have friends that work at chevy, ford, and dodge garages so I hear everything. my 2 cents worth
