The governor on my '41 "A" quit working today. I had it running fine. Then I noticed some surge at high rpm. I went to go again, and went about 30 feet when it dropped to an idle and would not respond to speed control/throttle changes. The speed control/throttle linkage moves the the arm on the governor just fine. The Carb connecting rod and rockshaft move freely, with spring tension returning them. Whe running, it idles, and I can run the rpm up by moving the carb conecting rod. But, the governer pulls back on it right away, droopping the rpm to idle. It was getting dark, so I parked it. Could not see much... I looked at my books, but still am unsure where to start. The only idea I have is something stripped in the connection from the speed change lever on the outside and the spring lever on the inside? Any ideas?
