Paul, I'd first find out exactly what is wrong with your tractor, and if at all possible try to fix it. There is no guarantee that by buying the neighbors MF that it wont break down in some way, and if whatever is wrong with your tractor can be repaired and you can do the labor, you will accomplish a couple things. First become more adept at fixing mechanical problems, and have your tractor worth more than fence row sculpturing. I believe its worth a try. Besides, you can't be depending on a neighbor having a tractor or other piece of equipment every time you have a break down.
