ronnie h, No it doesn't sound right...best way to check out the ammeter is to check the output of the alternator. Do you have a "High" and "Low" charge position on your light switch? If so what does the meter do when you switch it? Sounds like either your alternator is putting out too much or the ammeter should be replaced. Also where does the needle go when you shut off the tractor?
