I have an old JD trip plow that my grandfather used and it has some metal "bands" bolted onto the holes and they look like factory. Some have fallen off over the years, but bet that was what was originally on your wheels. I know a blacksmith and want to take off one of the remaining ones and have him make me up some more one day.
