...I'm in Mitchell, about 70 or so miles West of SF on I-90. I've seen at least one H with a dipstick too, don't know if it was an "after market" modification or just came that way from the factory. I have a parts catalog dated 1946, but it does not show a dipstick as an attachment, so I'd guess they were later than that, if they were factory. Does your H have disc brakes? Some later H's had Super H style disc brakes, They had belly pump hydraulics like the Stage I Supers, but didn't have Super H heads. I think some donkey engines that were the same thing as H's had dipsticks from the factory. Seems like I've seen one on a combine or something that was an H engine w/dipstick, too.
