The easiest way to do it without setting each piston to t.d.c is to : get the engine hot and up to operating temperature with the oil hot. Shut it down , take off the valve cover, look for any intake valve that is compressed or ( open) and adjust the exhaust valve that is beside it. Mark the valve in some way so that you know it has been adjusted. now rotate the engine until you find anothor valve that is open or partially open and adjust. Continue this process until all of your valves have a mark on them. This works well and is mutch faster then getting each piston at t.d.c on the compression stroke.
