Kevin - I was never able to find a torque spec for the cam nut. Also because it's not a standard nut (thin pattern, fine thread), a standard threaded fastner torque table will specify more torque than the threads are good for. Anyway when I did my SM I torqued it to about 70 ft-lb. (It must be OK because it's been working fine for several years now.) Make sure the nut keeper is in good shape, it's tang is fully engaged into the keyway and the ears over at least 2 nut flats. I wouldn't worry about a few chipped gear teeth. When the nut unscrewed off mine it fell into the gears and took pieces out of several teeth on every one but the governor gear. But it still runs fine.
