300U hyd

Just bought a 300U, no powersteering, just 2 point quick hitch. The guy I bought it from said the old pump didn't work but filled the crankcase with hyd oil before it quit. He bought a pump and had the same problem. I tore apart the only control valve (side of tank) I have, and found a broken spring but still blew the seal on the pump. I can find no other hyd valves anywhere (pressure relief?). The control valve I have seems to be a closed center. There is no way to get fluid back to tank. Do I have the wrong valve?
Please help.
