I have used the blue gasket sealer on the trans cover of several tractors and it works good. I have also used it a lot other places. If you clean the surfaces with lacquer thinner they will be free of grease and oil and it will stick very well. Put the sealer on and wait for it to dry a little, about 5 minutes and then put it together. You don't have to drown it just use a reasonable amount. Good luck with it.
