If the tractor works with the TA handle forward. Then you tractor is in direct drive. Works fine that way, as if it did not have a TA.
I put a rebuilt TA in my 400 this winter. It cost $499 + $100 core charge. Then another $60 for seals. It is not that hard to fix just time consuming as you do need to split the tractor.
