Tom, If your tractor goes fine when the TA lever is forward then this indicates that your TA clutch is not slipping. If when you pull the TA lever back and your tractor stops then the ramp and roll overrun clutch is shot. The TA is a handy item and you would not be without it once you have used it. The best solution in my opinion is to replace the ramp and roller over run clutch system with a sprague unit. They are a lot stronger and most likely will last your life time. I have replace the TA in three of my tractors with the sprague unit and all work very well. When I replaced the TA unit I replace Main clutch and pressure plate, The TA clutch and pressure place plus both throw out bearings all for under 900 dollars.
