My Dad bought a I-240 Utility tractor a couple of years ago intending to restore it. He died unexpectedly last fall and my Mom would like to sell it. I can't find the serial number to find out exactly what year it was built and wonder if someone might be able to help me. I found from ytmag.com that the tractor was made 1958-1962 and found the starting prefixes for the tractor and that it should be on the "left side of the clutch or transmission housing." I'm not quite sure where this is, but I did find a metal plate stamped with "8942 J" on the left side of what I think could be a housing of some kind. There are also several series of numbers (ending in R1) "raised" out of the metal in a few locations on the tractor. Is "8942 J" a valid serial number? Thank you for your help, Kathryn Trinkle

We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
