First , John you got a heck of a bargain at $20. I've had guys ask $300 for them. I managed to buy two of them, one for $35 and one for $17 at an auction sale. Someone has already given you the instructions, you clamped the sharpener onto the wheel of the horse drawn mower and then you removed the sickle bar from the mower and set it into place, there is a guide and a clamp to hold the bar. The mechanism then allowed the stone to roll up and down the sides of the two interfacing sections sharpening them, then you moved the bar down a space and did the next two section faces, until you had your sickle bar sharp and ready to continue, an amazing little device that you took to the field with you and set on the gate post until you needed it. Painted up and restored your sickle sharpener can bring you a lot of money more than you paid for it........Mike in Exeter Ontario
