Hey Buzzman,we bought a 504 diesel from my Grandpa, decided we would put up some silage that fall, found a large i.h. silage chopper(1 row) at a bargain, was told we would be up against it trying to pull with a small 504,(yeah right),pulled it in 1st w/torque in high range with a 10 ton wagon loaded behind,we used a dump truck some with it chopping, truck was loaded, got it stuck, tied a chain to this outfit an never even touched the rpm level, our nearby ford dealer said the 504 engine wasn't much,i offered to hook to his favorite comparable size ford,i never got a response,i agree,i have never heard an engine like the i.h. diesel
