Bruce, You should also check to make sure you have current from your ignition switch to the coil. Could be a bad switch, wire, or connection someplace. Also check or replace your cap and rotor. Also the float in the carb could be sticking. When it dies loosen the bowl drain and see if gas comes out. A needle and seat dosen't cost much so it may be a good idea to replace them.
