I've got the gas version with the C157, the clutch seems to be holding good. When it acted up the first time I could hold the clutch in and it would run, start to let the clutch out and it would stall (almost like testing it by power braking). The only other thing the tractor did out of normal was it would make a bit of a schreech when depressing the clutch during shifting. But it didn't do it all the time. Started when the tractor stalled while mowing (wire came loose off fuel pump). I parked it to see if anything was bound and saw nothing. Fired it back up again and everything was fine. Went back out after dinner and it started to schreech while shifting or just depressing the clutch after mowing for a while. But then a few passes later it stopped making any noise and worked perfectly....
