What happens if you fill it up, put the cap on and then run it for a time? Does the engine actually puke all the water out and then get hot?

I've had four of these diesel sweethearts over the years and every one would "slobber" for quite awhile after filling if it was filled right to the lip.

It is like their "running level" needs to be quite a bit lower than full to the lip.
