Back at it on the A model. Well, I took a real good look at my carburetor and did find the line fitting with the screen on it. I am still awaiting my books arrival to do more serious work. Turns out that my fuel problem seems to be one of low level in the tank. So far, I have only put 5 gallons at a time in there and when I am driving the tractor after setting the carb to what seems to be working well, the engine starts throttling out. It is definitely fuel flow issue, related, I believe, to the amount of fuel in the tank. So today I am going to run into town with 2(two) 5-gallon containers and add that to the about 2.5 gallons I probably have left in the tank and see what happens...

You guys have been great. Hey, I ain't leaving to town just yet, does anyone know the best kind of crankcase oil to put in this baby and also how much should there be? I am considering changing out the oil, being as I have no idea when it last was.

I am also getting ready to pull the PTO shaft assembly out again (4th time) and see if I can find out what's causing it to slip. I was told by a local tractor man that there should be a woodruff key on the spline or the shaft to maintain the torque from PTO generator to PTO shaft assembly. Or something similar. Does this sound about correct? My drawings in the I&T manual show a woodruff key there, which the first 3 times I pulled it, I didn't see, either on the shaft or in the drawings-- kind of like the fitting with the screen, I guess.

If anyone has any really helpful hints from Heloise in this regard, I am truly a field of ripe corn (all ears.)
