Howdy, all. I finished tearing down, cleaning, and resealing the final drive pans on my Super A last night. Previous owner had removed the pans and tossed the gaskets, then refilled the oil without doing anything to seal the pans. Needless to say, the oil was down to about 1/3 qt. The right side is tight, but the left side has a tad of play (less than 1/8") both in the axis through which it rotates and perpendicular to that axis. How much play is allowable before I need to start replacing bearings? (This is the side that sounds noisy to me.) The pan was clean-- no broken teeth, metal shavings, bearing parts, etc. Are these final drives difficult to work on? (Sorry for all the questions-- the archive search feature seems to be down.) Thanks, Darren
