H's generally have low compression all gas heads on them that have huge combustion chambers. This leaves lots of room for domed pistons. If you remove your sparkplugs and look into the cylinder while rolling the motor over by hand you will see that there is lots of clearance from the piston to the valve. Also, the valves start closing before the piston ever reaches Top Dead Center. If you really think it is the valves check to see if you have a weak spring or a gummed up valve that is not seating home as quickly as it should. If your engine still has lots of power and does not miss at the high rpms then the valves are not the problem
