When you pull the bull gear axle you'll have to take the small square plate off on the inside of the axle, then you'll see a bolt head, loosen it take it and thick washer out. Of course you'll have to remove the wheel and bearing cap on the outside. Then with someone on the outside helping, the axle will come out. If it is tight I use a brass drift on the inside to get it started. As it goes slide a rod "the drift if long enough" through from the inside to hold up the bull gear, then you should have no trouble when you go back with the axle. Of course you should likely change the oil anyway and that still requires dropping the pan, but at least you don't have to hold the parts up in there as you go back. One last thing make sure the tractor is supported securly.
