Sounds more like fuel to me, possibly a governor problem, but someone else will have to cover that. Take your carb off,take it completely apart, soak it in carb cleaner overnight, blow it out with compressed air, and put a kit in it. This assumes that you have new fuel, a clean gas tank, sediment bowl and lines. I seriously doubt that it is electrical, but the point gap is 0.020 for a distributer, and 0.013 for a mag.
