We recently had a DT360 out of a bus put in a 756. The key is finding the right engine, or you're into making custom-machined parts. That's fine and dandy if you've got the resources, but for most, it's much easier and cheaper to get something that'll bolt in. For a 656, if you can find a D312 engine, you can use parts from a 686 and bolt it right in. The D360/DT360 block might be the same as the D312, too. I don't know what engine from a combine will fit. Maybe the D310 German diesel out of a 715? One thing you'll quickly find out about a conversion is that there are a lot of little things that drive you nuts and cause the conversion to cost a lot more than you'd anticipated.
