I remember being awoken in the middle of the night back in the 70s to the sound of a 12 gauge going off. My dad was cutting loose on some guys stealing gas from a tank about 50 yards from the house. Apparently they had clubbed the dog before he could do any real damage, but then like the sign says, "The H*** with the dog, look out for the Owner". Found out later it was some cousins from the lower branches of the family tree.
