For that electricity that's leaking out, I hope you're using a PLASTIC bucket to catch it instead of a metal one...or, worse yet, letting it run all over the shop floor! ;^) If, when you did the 12V conversion and went from positive ground to negative ground, you remembered to switch the leads on the back of the alternator...has anybody done any arc welding on the tractor since then? That's a good way to "fry" a diode in the alternator and create a constant discharge...yeah...been there, done that, bought the replacement alternator.
