Once in a while a fellow comes across a rare piece of marketing history. I have one of the few "Lady Farmall" tractors produced. In 1941, with the war looming on the horizon, one of the marketing directors at IHC realized that if the men were fighting the war, the farms would have to be run by the women. He decided that women would prefer tractors in pastel colors, so he had some test market tractors produced in pastel colors, and designated "Lady Farmall". Unfortunately, it was a marketing flop much like "New Coke" as most men forbade their wives to buy those tractors. The test tractors were repainted the standard red color. I found vestiges of the original color, "grape", on mine, and have repainted it in its original colors.
