A Seat ?

I have a 44 A with a seat assembly that looks like it came from an H or an M. It's a pan seat with a coil spring suspension and a shock absorber. The main arm runs down and bolts to the floor pan at the brake pedals. My granddadddy bought her new but he passed on several years ago (that's how I got her). No one else remembers the seat ever being changed. Also the serial number plate is not where it should be. I've had to rely on the engine serial number to ID her. I've heard that it could be a 'rare' option. That would be cool but if that's true then why no plate? Any help would be appreciated.
