If you are in Des Moines, Winterset is just a few miles south on I 35; birthplace of John Wayne, and home of the Bridges of Madison County. I'm told Kinze Mfg is along I 80 in Iowa, you can't wiss the Kinze planter up in the air. Dyersville Iowa isn't too far north of I 80; there you can tour the Field of Dreams and some of the farm toy museums and stores. Rock Island Ill has the John Deere pavilion. It's the wrong color but very worthwhile stop. Iowa Machine Shed restuarants along I 80 in DesMoines and Davenports are great places to eat. Have fun.
