in western iowa exit 54 go north to a little town of elkhorn they have an old danish windmill that was taken apart and shipped over and reassembled,they still grind flour etc.and if you like the european flavor go farther north to manning they have an original hausbarn,that likewise was taken apart and shipped over,this is a pretty good size barn with a thatch roof,really cool.and it's on highway 141 which will take you right into des moines.also in a little town just north of manning is a minneapolis moline mueseum its out in the country but the locals could tell ya where its at..and a little on the green side but there is a john deere plant on the south side of ankeny,a northern suburb of des moines so to speak.
