504 distributer fried from wiring mistake?please H

cant get 504 started,no consistent fire at new points and condenser,these were replaced because I like a dumb a$% hooked up the alternator wrong the tactor still turns over the coil was replaced by a good used one i have but still no fire to points what else could I havr fried-can you fry a distributer?the points inside were, can you burn up plug wires,with no eveidence that can be seen,I know these are dumb questions,but I am about at wits end anyt advice or suggestion would be appreciated
