The first thing I would do is give it a good tune-up, or at least a good inspection of the plugs, points, etc. If all looks good then advance the timing a bit at a time, just play it by ear. Could make a big differance. Point gap is .020" if you have a distributor, .016" for a magneto. Spark plug gap is .025" I think, might be off on that one.
