Hi Jeff, I've used teflon tape along with a pipe dope called "Gasoila". If the tape alone doesn't stop the leakage, check with a plumbing supply store to see if they carry this pipe dope. I use it when connecting natural gas lines. Call this toll free number to see if it's available in your area, 1-800-846-7325. It's the best that I've ever used. Hal PS: A last resort is to remove tank and silver solder a new pipe fitting on the gas tank. You would need to steam clean it before using a torch around the tank.
