504 throttle problem

I recently had to replace the power steering pump on my 504. I got everything put back together, but now when I'm using it the throttle doesn't stay put. It will move to high idle on its own. There's a spring above the battery which connects the throttle shaft and the arm that goes to the carb. Could that have sprung during my repairs or did I just forget to replace something. Any help would be great.
