Yeah, that'll do it. But basically, all you gotta do is make sure it points to the same place when you put it in as when you took it out. The movement you're talking about is just the "spiral" gear teeth turning the rotor slightly as they mesh. If this happens, just pull it out, turn it back a slight amount, and reinstall. Should line up. Easiest way is find TDC of #1, and reinstall with rotor pointing to #1. Then use a timing light for final timing.
